====== February 10, 2009 ====== Spoke to Dan the new property manager. Turns out he unplugged the router line (Cat5 with PPoE). Heading up on Wednesday to spend the few minutes required getting it back online. File under: d'oh ====== December 23, 2008 ====== The hotspot has been down for a while. Michael posted this useful info on the mailing list: The Carrot Common install is a slight oddity -- connection and power come from the property manager's (Jill) office in the basement of the building on the westside of the courtyard and fed up over the ethernet cable to a router tucked into the drop ceiling of one of the shops. If a reboot is all that's needed it can happen from the manager's office, unplugging the Power Over Ethernet, waiting 10 seconds, and plugging it back in. Jill's done this a couple times now. Doesn't seem to be resolving the problem though. Assuming the router itself needs attention it's more awkward, requiring coordination with the Awoo shopkeeper and a ladder. Plus cleanup of nasty drop-ceiling cruft. ====== November 28, 2007 ====== Gabe heard back from Jill -- she restarted the router. It's still not up, so a visit will be required. Michael said that he'll be able to do it soon. ====== November 26, 2007 ====== Router still down. Gabe left a message for Jill asking her to call him back and let him know what's going on. ====== November 25, 2007 ====== Left a mesage for Jill Stagg (outgoing vmail says Evan but Jill's replaced him some months back) a few days ago. Left another today to the same effect -- please unplug the blue ethernet cable for 30 secs to reboot the router. This /should/ do it. If a visit is required, arrangements must be made with Jill (her office is locked) and optionally the Aroo shop owner. Router is in a drop ceiling above the cash register, requires a ladder and broom to clean up ceiling kruft. Access to the office is easier and cleaner. Jill's there 8-4 typically. Shop opens at 10am. Can't remember shop keepers name but she didn't care much for the ceiling bits on her counter, understandably. - Michael ====== September 25, 2007 ====== I had Jill Stagg (property manager) power-cycle the router by disconnecting the ethernet cable that runs from her office (basement) up to the Aroo store. It's a PoE set-up so unplugging from the wall jack downstairs (to the left of the prop manager desk) takes care of it. Carrot Common is back online now. ~ Michael ====== September 25, 2007 ====== The router's been reported down for about a week. Michael spoke with Jill, and she'll be rebooting the router today. Router is a little awkward, tucked in the drop ceiling of Aroo with a PoE down to her office. Unplugging the injector for 10 seconds should do it.
