It went down again. This time I went by, the wirelesstoronto ssid was visible, but didn't do anything (not even a dhcp address). I connected to wt-yds, and surprisingly, I could ping the Internet. So it seems like the problem was with the open-mesh router? I went into the office. It had fallen off the wall again -- since the red vinyl went up, the suction cup doesn't stick. I took it off, moved the Linksys router to under the desk, and used the big clip to attach the router to the column. …

Wifidog reported that the router was down. I was able to ssh in, and the same thing was happening as before -- the load was 0.00 (as reported by 'uptime'), but 'wdctl status' didn't return anything in the 30 seconds I waited for it. There were 10 entries in /tmp/dhcp.leases. It seems to have lost its DNS servers again. I added them to /tmp/resolv.conf, and also at the bottom of /etc/init.d/S50dnsmasq, which is the script that creates /tmp/resolv.conf -- hopefully now it won't forget anymore?

The mesh network at DGP went down a couple of days ago. I emailed staff to ask them to powercycle the rinkhouse router, but the network didn't come back up, so I went by to take a look. There was no signal outside the rinkhouse. I powercycled the router, and it didn't come up. I got a ladder to take a look at the router, and the LEDs weren't on. I took the router down and plugged it directly into the powersupply and the lights came on. So I think the problem is one of:

Michael and Gabe went by today. Michael had been by previously to install new PoE gear in the office, and the router didn't come up. We tried a bunch of stuff and concluded that the ethernet run from the office to Aroo is partially damaged, which means that it's not reliable for PoE, but it works fine for just data. We ran an AC extension to the router and removed the PoE gear and now it's online.

I got an email on June 10th (just one day after my last visit!) saying that the service was down; instead of the login screen, it was showing a Rogers page. It took me until this morning to get here. I called Rogers, and eventually reached someone who explained that the service had been disabled because they detected viruses on the network. So this afternoon I swapped the *real* SLM modem back in, and it works now. (I'd swapped it with the roach coach one a while ago.) I'm hoping that their…
